Mid-Season Invitational

Mid-Season Invitational

Mid-Season Invitational

The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is held between the first and second splits of the regular League of Legends competitive season, with the leading teams out of each regional league competing for the title. The top teams from China (LPL), Europe (LEC), and South Korea (LCK) after the first split earn a direct bid to the Main Event, while teams from the other 10 regions must qualify through the Play-In for the remaining three spots.
China’s Edward Gaming dismantled the competition to secure the championship during the inaugural tournament in 2015, and the region went on to claim another title in 2018 with Royal Never Give Up (RNG). South Korea has also captured two MSI titles with SK Telecom T1, while Europe has been crowned champion once with G2 Esports.
Seven countries -- the United States, China, Brazil, Germany, France, Vietnam and Taiwan -- have hosted the Mid-Season Invitational.
